    Alex Newhook scored twice for the second straight game as the Montreal Canadiens rallied with four unanswered goals to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 in Game 3. Cole Caufield added a goal and an assist, Lane Hutson and Jake Evans each recorded two assists, and Jakub Dobes made 26 saves in the win. Out West, Cutter Gauthier tallied three assists to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 4. Beckett Sennecke and Alex Killorn each posted a goal and an assist, while Mikael Granlund and Ian Moore also scored. Lukas Dostal stopped 18 shots for Anaheim.

    Meanwhile on the weekend, Jackson Blake scored in overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes completed a sweep of the Philadelphia Flyers with a 3-2 win in Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Second Round series. In the other Western Conference matchup, Kirill Kaprizov recorded a goal and two assists to power the Minnesota Wild past the Colorado Avalanche 5-1 in Game 3.

Plus, Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill speaks at the end of season press conference and makes it clear there won’t be major offseason changes despite the team’s first-round exit to the Minnesota Wild after three consecutive trips to the Western Conference Final.

  • Sabres Take Game 1 Over Canadiens & Ducks Tie Up Series

    The Buffalo Sabres grabbed a 1-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Second Round with a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens at KeyBank Center. Josh Doan and Ryan McLeod each recorded a goal and an assist, Zach Benson added two assists, and Alex Lyon stopped 26 shots as Buffalo continued its breakout playoff run.

    Out West, the Anaheim Ducks evened their second-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights with a 3-1 victory in Game 2. Beckett Sennecke, Leo Carlsson, and Jansen Harkins scored for Anaheim, while Lukas Dostal turned aside 21 shots in a strong performance between the pipes.

  • Maple Leafs Win Draft Lottery & Avalanche Take a 2-0 Series Lead

    The Toronto Maple Leafs landed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft after winning the Draft Lottery. The San Jose Sharks secured the No. 2 pick, while the Vancouver Canucks will select third overall. Despite entering the lottery with just an 8.5 percent chance — the fifth-best odds — Toronto moved up to claim the top spot for the third time in franchise history. The Maple Leafs previously selected Auston Matthews first overall in 2016 and Wendel Clark in 1985. The Colorado Avalanche win 5-2 over the Minnesota Wild in Game 2 of the Western Conference Second Round. Nathan MacKinnon led the way with a goal and two assists, while Martin Necas and Gabriel Landeskog each added a goal and an assist. Scott Wedgewood stopped 29 shots as Colorado, the top seed in the Central Division and Western Conference, extended its series lead to 2-0.

Out west, Cale Makar delivered a dominant performance with two third-period goals and an assist, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a crazy 9–6 victory over the Minnesota Wild in Game 1 of their second-round series. Off the ice, the Toronto Maple Leafs made major front office moves, hiring Mats Sundin as senior executive adviser for hockey operations and naming John Chayka as general manager.

    The 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs are heating up after an action-packed night in the Western Conference. The Anaheim Ducks punched their ticket to the second round with a convincing 5-2 Game 6 win over the Edmonton Oilers, powered by standout performances from Leo Carlsson, Troy Terry, and Chris Kreider, who each tallied a goal and two assists. Cutter Gauthier added a goal and an assist, while Lukas Dostal stood strong with 25 saves as Anaheim secured its first playoff series victory since 2017. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Wild are moving on for the first time since 2015 after defeating the Dallas Stars 5-2 in Game 6, led by a dominant showing from Quinn Hughes, who recorded two goals and an assist. Looking ahead, the NHL has announced that the Philadelphia Flyers will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round, with Game 1 set for Saturday, May 2nd in Raleigh.

    Cam York scored in overtime to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 1–0 Game 6 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, clinching the series and sending them into a second-round matchup against the top-seeded Carolina Hurricanes. In the Western Conference, Brett Howden delivered a dramatic short-handed goal in double overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 5–4 Game 5 victory over the Utah Mammoth, pushing them to the brink of elimination. Meanwhile, Alexandre Texier’s early third-period goal proved to be the difference as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Tampa Bay Lightning taking a 3–2 series lead with Game 6 set for Friday in Montreal.
