Ruth Guerriero is the Senior Director of Clinical and Non-Residential Services with Genesis Women's Shelter & Support in Dallas, Texas. She is an advocate for families that experience Domestic Violence providing services for thousands in the community. Ruth shares what life is like for her clients and what resources are available to those who are experiencing violence in their life. She helps define what abuse is, what it looks like and what you can do, should you choose to leave your abusive situation.
Domestic Violence is far reaching and effects all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages. This is an important issue as abuse often starts in the family home that one grew up in and it becomes perceived as "normal" and then the cycle of abuse can continue on for generations. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men experience domestic abuse.
