  • Sarri Seems to Be the Hardest Word
    Oct 21 2026

    Hello Serie A fan,

Lazio do their talking on the pitch. Juventus save theirs for the post-match interviews. And Maurizio Sarri would like to know why everyone else gets to tell the referee where to go.

Boaz and Kenny pick through a weekend of statement wins, familiar failings and questionable defending. Gattuso’s Lazio leave Turin with three points and rather fewer doubters, while Spalletti’s Juventus finish with a pitch full of forwards and more fingers to point than answers.

The first "Scudetto derby" of the season brings Milan an hour of dominance, Atalanta a belated comeback, and Kenny very little pleasure. Rabiot runs the show, Maignan puts rather a lot on the line, and Sarri discovers that some words are harder to get away with than others.

Elsewhere, Inter keep the Pazza nickname alive, Roma bounce back with a Castro masterpiece, and De Roon’s new life remains a sensitive subject in Bergamo. Napoli run into a Stanković-inspired brick wall, while Como return to winning ways and Fiorentina contemplate another season of the same old story.

Plus: Good Week / Bad Week, honourable and dishonourable mentions, Sassuolo defending in a manner that’s unfair to call schoolboy, and a six-year-old’s application to become Milan’s lucky charm.

  • Boring Calcio Has Left the Chat
    Sep 14 2026

Hello Serie A fan, after a brief Scudetto sabbatical, we return to find that Serie A has apparently misplaced its handbrake.

Napoli finally stop the bleeding against Bologna, although Allegri’s stress levels remain dangerously high. Juventus turn Sassuolo away into a late-game public-safety announcement. Atalanta dominate, concede, and continue the awkward business of teaching a Gasperini-built squad some Sarri grammar. Milan donate a half to Lazio, then send Diego Moreira on to retrieve it.

By the lake, Como put four past Leipzig. Inter make Real Madrid work. Roma take a useful point from Istanbul. And Arsenal remind Napoli that European redemption arcs require an attack.

Plus: Good Week / Bad Week, honourable and dishonourable mentions, Italian football’s ongoing war on boring calcio, and enough managers, returns and resignations to make the recycling bin feel like a tactical innovation.

  • Weaponising the Scudetto curse
    Mar 18 2022

    Hello Serie A fan,

\The more things change, the more they stay the same. Milan tear up the form book and make a huge statement in the title race, while Inter rediscover their form and bow out of Europe with heads held high, except for Alexis Sanchez, who loses his. We'll discuss that, Jordan Pickford’s birthday, and all the rest of the action in this episode of Scudetto.

    Running order:

    (00:00) Intros, drinks and unpleasantries

(02:06) Inter bow out of the Champions League with heads held high, except for Alexis Sanchez, who loses his

(07:40) Roma take useful 1-0 lead into the second leg against Vitesse, extending an impressive run that includes a weekend win over Atalanta

(09:50) Atalanta's mixed fortunes continue, with that frustrating result in Rome, ongoing selection headaches, but encouraging performances in Europe

(14:20) Milan defy the form book with victory over title rivals Napoli in the weekend's big game; more questions overuse of VAR

(18:21) Verona-Napoli, Torino-Inter, and Spezia-Cagliari are the big games this weekend
