What starts as childhood curiosity turns into a full-blown lesson in consequences.
Growing up as Gen-X kids with too much freedom and not nearly enough supervision, we were experts at finding ways to entertain ourselves—usually by doing things we probably shouldn't. On this particular summer day, that meant exploring the mysterious world of "having a drink with friends."
Armed with two jelly jars, a bottle of gin, and absolutely no idea what we were doing, my buddy Tim and I set out on a mission that would leave a lasting impression… on both of us—and his parents' hallway carpet.
Let's just say it didn't go well.
In this episode, I share the story of how a seemingly harmless experiment turned into a scorched-earth reminder that not everything that looks fun is worth chasing—and that wisdom often comes the hard way.
We'll also look at how this kind of thinking doesn't just belong to kids. Even as adults, we can be drawn toward things that seem right in the moment but lead somewhere we didn't intend.
