 Greetings, Earthlings! Welcome to Science-Fictionally True. I’m your host: Jimmy. I talk about the science, technology, and history behind science fiction topics. I also discuss current events about aspects of our society that are moving from science fiction to science fact. Tune in to new episodes every other Thursday at 3pm Pacific Standard Time! I started this podcast because I wanted to talk about the science that isn’t taught in textbooks. Our universe is cooler and weirder than most people think, and I want to share how interesting it all could be. I have a bachelor’s degree in physics, and I have a master’s and Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering.       In the movie Contact, Dr. Ellie Arroway is a radio astronomer who listens to radio emissions from space hoping to find evidence of alien civilizations. She eventually discovers a radio signal repeating a sequence of prime numbers sent from the Vega star system, an undisputed message from advanced extraterrestrials. So, how realistic is a situation like this? Where does science stand on making contact with aliens?
