May 5th is MMIW Awareness Day and June 6th is MMIM Awareness day but everyday indigenous people go missing and their cases are thrown to the side.

This is what happened with Benita Long when she went missing in March of 2022 from a motel in Washington state. At first police were not concerned due to her past history, and by the time they actually cared to investigate it was far to late.

But a time came when he felt that the town no longer deserved his kindness but instead his rage. And that is when he planned to take his anger out on the people of the small community he called home by striking at the one things that meant the most to them; their children.

It seems there is a lot of vitrol and hate towards anything showcasing black excellence now adays on social media. This includes figures from history.

Known as the black Samurai we do not know much about the man known simply as Yasuke. But there was nothing simple about him. The very sight of this man sent communities into a frenzy and people lost their lives trying to catch a glimpse of him.

But what he did next still shocks people to this day. After confirming this man had not bathed in a vat of ink, one of the most powerful rulers in feudal Japan took him under his wing.

And as sad I am that Chadwick Bosman will not be bringing his story to life, we should soon see his story play out on the big screen.
