  • James 1: The Wisdom You Asked God For (And What To Do With It)
    Oct 3 2026

On the Resilient Disciple Podcast, we continue our book of James Bible study with James 1, verse by verse, and what to actually do with the wisdom you asked God for.

James is the Proverbs of the New Testament, and chapter one points every line in one direction. Real faith shows up in action, or it's not real faith yet.

We walk through the double-minded man in James 1:6, why your worth was never tied to your bank balance in verses 9 and 10, the fork in the road between perseverance and temptation in verse 12, and the most practical line in the whole letter, James 1:19. Quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.

Then James 1:22, the hinge the chapter swings on. Hearing the Word isn't enough. Knowledge was never the gap. Obedience was.

Two challenges for your week: run James's order on purpose in your next hard conversation at home, and quietly serve one real person who's carrying too much alone.

Chapter 2 drops in two weeks. Subscribe so you don't miss it.

  • Why Following Jesus Doesn't Get Easier (And Why That's the Point)
    Sep 23 2026

On the Resilient Disciple Podcast, following Jesus was never supposed to get easier, and that's not a bad thing.

I've survived cancer twice, and both times following Jesus got harder, not easier. The truth I've learned is that comfort pulls just as hard as crisis, it's just quieter. Hebrews 12:1 to 2 and Philippians 3:12 to 14 both point the same direction, this life is a race you keep running, not a finish line that gets closer with age. Two moves this week: stop waiting for it to get easier before you call yourself faithful, and name out loud what it's currently costing you to one man who'll hold it with you.

  • James: Why God Cares More About Your Maturity Than Your Comfort
    Sep 19 2026

On the Resilient Disciple Podcast, we open the book of James and dig into why God cares more about your spiritual growth than your comfort.

James was Jesus' half brother, a man who didn't believe until after the resurrection, and he wrote this letter as a servant leading the Jerusalem church to Jewish believers scattered by persecution. He opens with a hard command: consider it pure joy when you face trials, because the testing of your faith produces perseverance, and perseverance makes you mature and complete. James 1:2-5 also promises that God gives wisdom generously to anyone who asks. This episode kicks off a chapter-by-chapter walk through the whole book.

  • You're Becoming Someone. Who's Deciding Who?
    Sep 12 2026

You are becoming someone right now. The only question is who's picking who you become. Here are the three voices doing it without your permission.

I'm 57, married to Bobbie since 1992, and not long ago I had to admit that my feed, my fear, and my past had been shaping me more than God had, and I hadn't even noticed.

In this video I walk through the three voices that quietly disciple men after 40, then dig into Romans 12:2 and Ephesians 4:22 through 24 for what it actually looks like to stop conforming and start renewing your mind, one honest day at a time.
