  • Red Wings Captain Requests Trade: Where should we send him?
    Jun 6 2026

The biggest Detroit Red Wings story in years may have just dropped.

According to Elliotte Friedman, Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has requested a trade out of Detroit. While details remain limited, multiple reports suggest frustration with Detroit's inability to end its playoff drought and growing tension between Larkin and Steve Yzerman may have contributed to the situation.

    If true, this changes everything.

In this emergency Red Wings Rant episode, we break down:

    * What Friedman actually reported

    * Why Larkin may have reached this point

    * Whether Steve Yzerman could actually move his captain

    * Potential trade destinations

    * What a Larkin trade package could look like

    * What this means for Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider and the future of the franchise

    * Whether this is a sign that the Yzerplan has failed

The Detroit Red Wings have spent a decade trying to rebuild. If their captain wants out, the organization may be facing its biggest crossroads yet.

  • Red Wings Blow It.
    Apr 9 2026

    The season is over.

And if you’re still holding onto hope, let me ask you this:

What else do you need to see?

The Detroit Red Wings just lost again—this time blowing a late lead with 17 seconds left against the Columbus Blue Jackets before losing in a shootout.

    Three straight losses.
    Multiple late-game collapses.
Points handed directly to the teams you’re chasing.

Meanwhile, the Ottawa Senators are taking care of business—beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 and tightening their grip on the final playoff spot.

    Now?

    • 3 points back
    • Effectively 4 (tiebreaker lost)
    • 4 games left
    • ~6% playoff odds

    This episode breaks down:

    • Why this was the final nail in the coffin
    • The brutal pattern of late-game failures
    • The Patrick Kane penalty vs Minnesota
    • The Columbus collapse with 17 seconds left
    • What Max Bultman got exactly right about this stretch
    • Quotes from Dylan Larkin and Todd McLellan that say everything

    This wasn’t bad luck.

This was a season full of missed chances… finally catching up to them.

  • March Meltdown: Same Story, New Year for the Red Wings
    Apr 2 2026

The calendar flipped to March… and so did the Detroit Red Wings season.

For the fourth straight year, the Red Wings fell apart when it mattered most. What once looked like a playoff team — built on health, momentum, and elite goaltending — completely unraveled.

This episode of Red Wings Rant breaks down:

The illusion of early-season success driven by health and hot goaltending

The drop-off from elite to “just good” in net with John Gibson and Cam Talbot

Back-to-back embarrassments vs. the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins

A major disconnect between Todd McLellan and the locker room

Why Dylan Larkin and the leadership group are running out of answers

We also dive into insights from Max Bultman on how Detroit’s season unraveled — from the Simon Edvinsson injury exposing depth issues, to special teams collapsing, to a team that simply stopped showing urgency.

This isn’t just about losing games.

It’s about a team that, right now, doesn’t look like it cares enough to win them.

And somehow… they’re still in it.

  • From Top of the East to 10th… What Happened to the Red Wings?
    Mar 26 2026

The Detroit Red Wings are running out of time… and answers.

After spending most of the season near the top of the Eastern Conference, the Wings have now dropped to 10th place following brutal back-to-back losses to the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators.

Against Boston, it felt like a win stolen.
Jeremy Swayman stood on his head, stopping everything and completely flipping the game.

But against Ottawa? That’s where things get concerning.

    The Senators came in:

    • On a back-to-back
    • Missing Jake Sanderson and Thomas Chabot
    • Starting two rookie defensemen

And still… they controlled the game.

Detroit found themselves down 3-0, clawed back to 3-2, but couldn’t finish—again.

    Even with:

    • Dylan Larkin returning and scoring
    • Dominik Shine stepping up with a goal
    • A strong overall effort

    It wasn’t enough.

    Now the big question:
👉 Does this team actually have the elite talent to get over the hump?

And inside the locker room, Moritz Seider is starting to sound like the voice of accountability:

“That’s a very winnable game… if we’re not upset with ourselves, we’re doing something wrong.”

With only 11 games left and likely needing ~98 points to make the playoffs, the margin for error is gone.

    So what happens next?

    • Can the Wings respond?
    • Is this another March collapse?
    • Or is this finally where leadership takes over?

    Let’s talk about it.

  • Red Wings STEAL Point in Dallas, Kane Goes OFF — Season on the Line
    Mar 19 2026

The Detroit Red Wings are still fighting for their playoff lives — and somehow, they’re still standing.

After a brutal stretch that saw Detroit sliding down the standings, the Wings managed to steal a point against the Dallas Stars in a game they had no business staying in early. A rare mistake from Jake Oettinger opened the door… and Detroit walked right through it.

Then came a must-win game against the Calgary Flames — and while it wasn’t perfect, the Wings got the job done.

    But let’s be real:
This season is coming down to right now.

With the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins up next — and the Columbus Blue Jackets refusing to lose — Detroit is in a full-on playoff war.
