  • Saving Throes # 141 - A Look Ahead at 2026
    Jan 15 2026

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

2025 is now firmly behind us, so now it is time to look forward. This week I am talking about my next round of new years resolutions, and bold predictions for what is to come in the TTRPG industry for 2026. I am also looking ahead to the upcoming game products I am excited about releasing this year, and I noted that a lot of them are crowdfunding projects that still need to be fulfilled, so here is hoping that 2026 is the year for many of them! I am also looking forward to certain projects launching their crowdfunding campaigns this year as well, although that means they will not likely see release this year! That is just the way this industry works now I suppose. Tune in to listen to my predictions and determine if I am on to something!

2025 was a good year for quality games. Although we had a high concentration of remakes and remasters, we also had a high output of new original games. This year I have another 10 nominees to discuss, but as usual, there can be only 1! In this episode I go over my many honourable mentions that didn't quite crack the top 10, but are worth mentioning nonetheless. After that I present in order from the bottom to the top in ranked order, the top 10 games of 2025, and #1 takes the title of overall Game of The Year for 2025. Tune in to see if your favourite games made the cut!

  • Saving Throes # 140 - 2025 Games of the Year
    Jan 8 2026

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

With 2025 now a bit behind us, it is time to do the annual tradition of recognizing the best TTRPG games and supplements that came out last year. I had to add a couple of new categories to recognize this time: the best box set, and the best crowdfunding project. Last year saw a large number of high quality box sets released, which is great! It's something that I always loved about this hobby from the older days. As for crowdfunding campaigns, although many of these won't see the actual light of day for a long time, there were more than a few notable projects that got off the ground and have me very excited, so I wanted to recognize them. Tune in to hear what other categories I have, who the winners are and of course, which game came out on top as the overall best game of 2025!

    Jan 6 2026

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

With the new year I want to revisit my predictions and resolutions I made at the beginning of 2025 to see how successful I was with the resolutions and how accurate my predictions were! I can say that the resolutions maybe need more work, but I was surprised about how many of my predictions were correct. It has been a year of ups and downs in 2025, so it is always nice to take some time and reflect on all of it, and also to hand out some awards and recognize some of the best titles from 2025. Tune in to hear what games are recognized in various categories, but tune in next week for the overall game of the year, which always gets its own dedicated episode.

  • Saving Throes # 139 - New Years 2026 Special! A Look Back at 2025, Including My Predictions & Resolutions
    Jan 1 2026

Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

Happy New Year! As this episode goes live on New Year's Day, I find myself feeling like time is flying! I can't believe another year has already gone by. It feels like I just did this episode recently for 2024/2025. When I was reviewing all that happened this year though, I realized a lot more happened than I realized. The TTRPG space was pretty active, both with various controversies, and interesting news stories. We have seen how the new version of D&D 5e has settled and the continuation of the growth of the OSR and indie RPG scene. Some long delayed crowdfunded projects finally saw the light of day and of course several new crowdfunding campaigns of note were launched this past year. Tune in to hear if my predictions were accurate or how successful I was with my resolutions from the past year.

  • Pining for Pixels # 139 - Video Game Book Club: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
    Dec 30 2025

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

The Legend of Zelda franchise is one of my most favourite and cherished series in video games ever. I have been a regular player of this series since the original Legend of Zelda released on the NES. So it is a bit of a surprise that until recently I had never completed the 3DS entry to the series, A Link Between Worlds. This game was positioned as a follow up to the SNES masterpiece A Link to the Past, and aesthetically it sure fit the bill. This game also has an attention to detail and loving fondness of the SNES title it follows that it is worthy of that positioning. I just never had the time to get back to this game since its release in 2013, and lost track of it until recently. In this post Breath of the Wild world, I am glad I got to experience it for the first time today with a different perspective. Tune in to hear my thoughts on how this game stands up after 12 years and determine if you should give it a shot as well.

  • Saving Throes # 138 - Christmas 2025 Special! What TTRPGs I want for Christmas
    Dec 25 2025

Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.

Merry Christmas! If you are downloading this episode the day it goes live, then Merry Christmas indeed, as it is Christmas Day! This episode is a bit shorter than normal as I wanted to focus on Christmas, and I imagine most people won't be spending a lot of time listening to podcasts today. For this special Christmas episode I decided to share what TTRPG stuff I had put on my Christmas list. The list is a safe list so my family knows what to get for me, with the safety that I will not buy it for myself (at least not until after Christmas!) Tune in to hear what I had on my list, and I will share in a future episode what I got.
