YouGov recently published extensive results from a massive survey of perspectives on policing. They asked a range of questions of the public, along with insights from police officers and staff themselves.

The Police Leadership Commission is seeking views from literally anyone interested in policing. Academics, media, organisations, victims, the general public, and officers and staff (current or former).

In this episode I run through and critique the survey being used to gather responses. It's completely qualitative, in that you have 700 words for each of the 7 questions asked. That's a massive amount of data for the College to analyse in just a month or two after the closing date of 12 Feb. It even asks for 'sources' to bolster your responses, a very academic practice. Without any ratings or multiple choice, this is a time-consuming form that will likely favour academic responses.

Despite these unhelpful designs, I encourage you to feedback with your thoughts. I hope you enjoy the episode.
