  • Episode 103: Gullah Gullah Island
    Feb 21 2026

This week, your favorite former puppeteers grab their sunscreen and head to the sandy shores of 90s children’s television to revisit Gullah Gullah Island — the Nickelodeon gem that gave us catchy songs, cultural celebration, and one of the most joyfully chaotic frog puppets ever committed to broadcast.

We dive into how the show blended music, storytelling, and Gullah Geechee culture into something genuinely groundbreaking for preschool TV — all while Binya Binya (yes, that bright yellow frog) bounced around like a mascot who drank too much fruit punch. We’ll unpack the puppetry, the suit performance challenges, and the fine art of acting opposite a six-foot amphibian with permanent jazz hands.

Along the way, we’ll explore the show’s legacy, why representation matters, and how Gullah Gullah Island managed to feel both educational and like a beach party that wandered onto cable access.

It’s nostalgia with rhythm, puppetry with purpose, and a reminder that sometimes the most powerful stories come wrapped in bright colors and floppy foam limbs.

Because when it comes to great preschool television, sometimes all it takes is a little rhythm, a little heart, and a frog in oversized sneakers.

  • Episode 102: The Valentine's Day That Almost Wasn't
    Feb 14 2026

This week, your favorite ex-puppeteers crack open a heart-shaped box of early-’80s television weirdness and revisit the 1982 holiday special The Valentine’s Day That Almost Wasn’t—a delightfully scrappy, foam-and-felt fairy tale that asks the eternal question: what if Valentine’s Day… just didn’t happen?

When the wickedly evil villain, Rubella Slime, concocts a plan to replace all the Valentine's love potion with Hostile, Arrogant, and Terribly Evil (H.A.T.E....Get it?...) potion, it’s up to a ragtag corps of rookie cupids to save romance itself. Stakes: high. Budget: low. Felt density: extreme.

We dig into the special’s handmade charm, old-school TV magic tricks, and the kind of puppetry that feels like it was built in someone’s garage at 2 a.m. with hot glue and blind optimism. Along the way, we unpack the puppet design, the analog effects, and whether these slightly lumpy, deeply sincere puppets hold up in the twenty first century.

It’s sweet, strange, and just cheesy enough—like a construction-paper valentine from a puppet with no fingers.

Because nothing says “happy valentine” like saving a holiday with a giant love bazooka.

  • Episode 101: The Muppet Show; Sabrina Carpenter
    Feb 7 2026

They're back! You know they couldn't miss this one!

This week, your favorite former puppeteers step back into the beloved chaos of The Muppet Show — but not the one that aired in the 1970s. Nope, it’s the glammed-up, vaudeville-meets-pop-star spectacle of the 2026 Muppet Show special featuring guest star Sabrina Carpenter, live from the Muppet Theater and streaming on Disney+ and ABC.

We unpack how this 50th-anniversary celebration revives the classic variety format with all your favorite foam-faced performers — Kermit desperately trying to herd chickens and pigs in wigs, Miss Piggy insisting she’s still the biggest star on any stage, and Gonzo’s chaos meter cranked to eleven. Carpenter brings her musical chops (and a generous helping of charm) to the upright mayhem, dueting, slinging drinks, (quite literally) and even very nearly out-divaing Miss Piggy.

Along the way, we’ll share our own takes on all of these brand new, but still timeless performances, and why The Muppet Show reboot somehow feels like both a love letter to its past and a neon sign pointing toward its future.

Because at the end of the day — “It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights…” and it’s definitely time to let the Muppets have their moment again. Kinks and all.

  • Episode 99: Chucky, Part 1
    Oct 4 2025

This week, your favorite ex-puppeteers head straight into the uncanny valley to talk about the most homicidal hunk of plastic ever stitched together: Chucky from the Child’s Play franchise.

From his humble beginnings as a “Good Guy” doll to his long career of gleeful murder sprees, we’ll explore how a pint-sized puppet became a horror icon. Expect behind-the-scenes tales of animatronics, puppetry wizardry, and the sheer number of people it takes to make one tiny toy look terrifying. (Spoiler: it’s more than you think.)

We’ll also wrestle with the big questions: Is Chucky the ultimate anti-Muppet? What makes a puppet scary instead of silly? And could Gonzo survive a dinner party with him?

Because whether you laugh or scream, one thing’s certain: when it comes to puppets, Chucky really kills.

  • Episode 98: The Muppet Show: Señor Wences
    Sep 27 2025

This week, your favorite ex-puppeteers once again spin the magical monthly muppet wheel, where it landed on guest star Señor Wences proving that sometimes the funniest puppets are literally on the back of your hand.

Armed with his fist-faced friend “Johnny” and the ever-squished “Pedro,” Wences brought his old-school ventriloquism into the Muppet Theatre—and somehow kept a straight face while sharing the stage with comedian bears, diva pigs, and a frog with chronic stress. It was a mashup of vaudeville minimalism and Muppet maximalism, and the result? Pure “’S’alright!”

We’ll revisit the sketches, unpack the backstage chaos, and ask the big questions: Did Pedro ever get claustrophobic? And how did Kermit keep things together when half his cast was made of felt and the other half was literally someone’s left hand?

Because when the Muppets meet Señor Wences, the only possible review is… ’S’alright!

  • Episode 97: The Muppets Go to the Movies
    Sep 20 2025

This week, your favorite ex-puppeteers grab their popcorn and a bucket of felt as they revisit the 1981 television special The Muppets Go to the Movies.

Part clip show, part genre spoof, and all chaotic charm, this special saw Kermit, Piggy, and the gang lampoon Hollywood’s greatest hits—from westerns and silent films to musicals, monster flicks, and even a dash of epic melodrama. Along for the ride were guest stars Lily Tomlin and Dudley Moore, each gleefully throwing themselves into the Muppet madness with the kind of commitment only true comedy legends can deliver.

Along the way, we’ll share behind-the-scenes tidbits, geek out over the puppetry tricks that made it all possible, and debate which genre the Muppets truly conquered (spoiler: it might be “unintentional surrealism”).

Because when the Muppets go to the movies, it’s never just a tribute—it’s a felt-covered takeover.

  • Episode 96: Mac and Me
    Sep 6 2025

This week, your favorite ex-puppeteers tackle the foam-rubber fiasco known as Mac and Me—the 1988 E.T. knockoff so brazen, it makes you wonder if anyone at the studio had actually seen E.T. (or sobriety).

We dig into the wobbly alien puppetry, the animatronics that look like they were powered by a car battery on its last legs, and of course, that infamous McDonald’s dance sequence that plays like a fever dream sponsored by fries. Along the way, we’ll explore how this cult catastrophe came to be, how an iconic creature studio could produce such a disastrous puppet, and why Paul Rudd has spent decades keeping it alive on Conan.

It’s part roast, part puppet autopsy, and part ode to the kind of movie that’s so bad, it somehow becomes immortal.

Because sometimes puppets inspire wonder… and sometimes they inspire lawsuits.
