This is Privilege With Purpose, and we're your co-hosts Alena Francis and Daava Mills.     We will be having conversations that typically only get whispered about behind closed doors with family and friends on topics that we would normally know better than to speak about publicly and that might disturb our comfort and complacencies.    Privilege With Purpose is a way to expose the unsaid in hopes of finding common ground, and to disarm the “ISMs” that plague our communities, homes and ourselves.   At the heart of Privilege With Purpose is to understand privilege, our own and others, and to illuminate context. Context provides meaning and clarity to an intended message. It lets us talk about the circumstances in which something happens and WHY it happens. A person's context is a result of his or her life experiences.    When you allow another person who’s not like you, the opportunity to give their context, and you work together to integrate your differences, you co-create a space where unimaginable magic and possibilities happen.   We don’t always agree, and that’s ok, we're not looking for agreement or consensus, we’re finding the healthy middle ground and that's what’s most important. We're working to create a beautiful space in the middle of where we all come together.   Season 1 Topics include:
  • Cancel Culture
  • Bra Sizes
  • Dead Bedrooms
  • The Cult of Self Help
  • Racism
  • Power Struggles

Privilege With Purpose launches March 1, 2022.
