We live in a time where we are constantly grappling with moments of feeling confused amidst moments of relief, worry followed by peace, and moments of calm followed by confusion. All of it, blessing and brokenness living together. What happens when two things that don't go together have to somehow be held in tension? That's our podcast - our intentional attempt to hold things that don't seem to go together in the context of faith.

Produced by Campus Ministry at the University of Notre Dame, Points of Connection is hosted and created by Christian Santa Maria, Assistant Director of Retreats and Pilgrimages, and J.J. Wright, Director of the Notre Dame Folk Choir.

    Understanding Ourselves and Encountering God
    Feb 5 2021
When we think about sources of spirituality; liturgies, sacred scripture, or church doctrine comes to mind - rightfully so. Can our own experiences and stories also be a source of how we encounter truth about who we are and who God is? In this episode, we talk about the intersectionality of our identities, how we discovered them and what glimpses of God we were able to catch in the process. Plus, we talk to Becky Ruvalcaba from Campus Ministry about how and why cooking tacos in her backyard is a love language.

    Wasting Time and Contemplation
    Jan 22 2021

Can the fear of being unproductive be linked to our misunderstandings of what it means to pray or be contemplative? In this episode, we honor our own practices of contemplation and the challenges we face to give ourselves the permission to “waste time”.  Plus, we talk with Michael Hebbeler from the Center for Social Concerns at the University of Notre Dame about his class on social change and why, for one of his classes, he makes students go birdwatching with him.
