À propos de ce contenu audio
The pilot episode of Artist & Chill, recorded in March 2020 fairly deep in the Scandinavian wilderness, featuring my long time friend and culture enthusiast Max Arvid.
We talk about his relationship to visual art: the dubious notion of art as a luxury commodity and how the art market (potentially) thrives on upholding that image. Two shows we saw at the New York Guggenheim back in 2016 - one with contemporary Chinese art and an Agnes Martin retrospective.
Minimalism and some of us being programmed to enjoy it. The museum experience - public art, what kind of responsibility the museum has, if any. How the owner of an artwork - institution or otherwise - influences how the art is perceived by others, the styling of homes in real estate ads and the selection of art shown there, non-public art, art in one's home and its function, whether or not art can be seen without its context, political or otherwise, in a vacuum and if so - why does it matter to you?
