Good afternoon. Pennsylvania. I'm Aaron Jolly. That quarter-inch of rain you noticed? It's just the down payment. We're coming off one of the driest winters on record. And the atmosphere is finally making up for lost time. In the next 24 hours. Step outside in Southeast Pennsylvania and you'll feel the damp air holding onto 51 degrees. Patchy fog lingers through mid-morning, but keep an eye on the clock. Light rain returns by late afternoon. Tonight, the rain becomes likely as you slip down to 41 degrees. Over in Western Pennsylvania, you're already sitting pretty at 55 degrees this afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. But the main event arrives overnight. Rain moves in after 9 P.M. and peaks around 5 A.M. With near certainty. Lows hold steady in the lower 50s. Central Pennsylvania falls right in the middle. You're looking at a high near 47 degrees today with a chance of rain. Steadier showers spread in after midnight, with lows around 43 degrees. Thursday keeps the tap on statewide. We could see another half-inch to three-quarters of an inch through Thursday evening. Now here's the surprise. Cold air gets trapped near the surface, keeping eastern areas cool through Friday. Meanwhile. Western Pennsylvania breaks out into sunshine. Saturday brings highs near 76 degrees there — that's about 41 degrees above normal for early March. That warm surge reaches the rest of the state by Saturday. Southeast and Central Pennsylvania climb to 68 degrees. These are the warmest temperatures we've seen since late fall. Saturday also brings our next round of showers and possible thunderstorms as a cold front sweeps through. Looking ahead. Sunday and Monday stay mild with highs in the mid-60s to near 70. Tuesday could push into the mid-70s in some spots. One quick note — tonight's full moon is fighting those clouds, but you might catch a glow through the overcast.
