À propos de ce contenu audio

Hey, I’m Anouk Briere-Godbout, and here on "Parenting the Intensity" we’ll talk all about how we can drop the “general parenting advice” that doesn't work with our intensely emotional kids anyway and let go of the unrealistic expectations society puts on us as parents. Together we'll find solutions and ideas that work for YOU and YOUR kids. Chances are you know what they need, but you need a little inspiration to keep going and permission to do things differently and help you fully trust that you already are a wonderful parent to your exceptional, but challenging, kids.

Each week on “Parenting the Intensity” you’ll get some thought provoking and comforting exchanges and reflections on mainstream parenting so you can put things into perspective, redefine what parenting means to YOU and YOUR kids and finally enjoy your family life without constant fear of the next outburst.

Take a deep breath, keep going, we’re all in this together!

    • 062 - Chosen vs. imposed loneliness for parents of atypical children
      May 20 2025

      Welcome to "Parenting the Intensity!"

Today we will normalize the feeling of isolation and explore the reasons for this isolation:

      • Understanding our experience (or lack thereof)
      • Sharing our experience (once again, or lack thereof)
      • Judgment

We will also explore the fact that sometimes we need to isolate ourselves to process, give ourselves time, and protect ourselves.

And as a possible solution: seek the right support to break the feeling of isolation.

      • Need to feel part of a community.
      • Clean up the support around us.
      • Impact of good support on confidence.
