Amy Chaloupka is a WWU alumna who has been curating for over fifteen years and joined the team at the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, Washington in 2019. She also has experience teaching and curating independently. Amy is most interested in community-based exhibitions and working directly with artists on new projects.

Jessyca Murphy is the Executive Director of Make.Shift Art Space in downtown Bellingham, WA. In 2020 they released their first feature film Just Like The Men, based on a script written in 1914 by Ella Higginson. Desi Valdez is Co-Owner of Geheim Gallery with Jackson O’Rourke in downtown Bellingham, Washington. Desi and Jackson opened Geheim during the Covid-19 pandemic and still manage to produce quality exhibitions of unique work. Desi is also a WWU student who is a first-time business owner.

On this episode, Owen talks with Zosia Sherwood, creator of Sherwood Music Festival, about her new music festival. We talk about why festivals are important, what it’s going to take to get them back in person, and the challenges that come with creating a festival in a pandemic.

Sherwood Music festival is a PNW focused festival taking place on June 12th that aims to embrace and empower local artists, musicians, and everyone in between. All proceeds from this festival are going to DVSAS (Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services), an organization in Whatcom County.
