We begin with the recent spell of warm weather across the UK, the public reaction to the early summer temperatures, and what it means as the country heads into the warmer months.

We discussed turn to the increasingly heated Makerfield by-election, including the controversy surrounding Robert Kenyon's comments about Carol Vorderman, the political fallout, and what it means for one of the most closely watched electoral contests in the country. • Starmer’s Turbulent Week: Resignations & An Upcoming Leadership Challenge
    May 17 2026

This week on Our Week, Untangled, Jordan and Kathryn break down a dramatic few days in UK politics centred on Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s turbulent week.

We start with Starmer’s underwhelming Monday speech, the reaction it sparked across Westminster, and why critics say it failed to reassure the public and his own party. Following that came a wave of resignations from PPSs and junior ministers, signalling deepening unrest within Labour.

On Wednesday, Starmer held a very short meeting with Wes Streeting, then Health Secretary, who by Thursday resigned from the cabinet, citing loss of confidence in the Prime Minister’s leadership and calling for a wider leadership debate.

We also unpack the developments around Josh Simons’ resignation as MP, which cleared a path for Andy Burnham to return to Parliament and position himself as a potential challenger to Starmer’s leadership.

Across the episode, we discuss what these moves could mean for the future of Labour leadership, whether Starmer can hold onto power, and how internal party divisions are playing out publicly.
