The Carolina Panthers are poised to open the 2025 season and take on the Jacksonville Jaguars September 7th! But first, a look back at an off-season that saw Dan Morgan and company rebuild a historically bad defense through free agency and the draft while still making moves to improve the offense. Was it enough though and will the Panthers finally rise from the cellar of the NFC South?

Recapping the Carolina Panthers' preseason kickoff against the Cleveland Browns at Bank of America Stadium. The 1st team offense showed what they needed to in their first game back, but how about the defense? Carolina had opportunities against the Browns, but didn't capitalize when they needed to. UNC did what they were supposed to do, at home, against UNC-Charlotte. The defense was aggressive, if undisciplined. The offense rotated almost all their players and put up enough points to keep the game out of reach for the 49ers.

The Panthers on the other hand, had what most long-time fans would consider the single worse half of Panthers' football - ever. The defense allowed 7 scores on the first 7 drives, the offense didn't get on the board until a FG went through the uprights as time expired going into halftime. So, in reaction, I took to PFF's Mock Draft Simulator, fresh with summer scouted prospects and set to put the Panthers back together in a 3RD, way too early, overreaction mock draft. Then I broke down what a calmer me thinks about the state of this team and where we go from here (only up right?).
