The older we get, and hopefully, the more maturity we have, we look at our lives and sometimes ask, "What contribution is my life making in this world which will be lasting after I am gone?" Surely there are things more important than having a large bank account, material things, or words of praise that might be said at my funeral. Today we will be taking the long look at some important ways in which we can make our life count. We'll be looking at several Bible references, and our key Bible verse is Paul's statement in Philippians 4:13.

Here we are now midway through January, and some are looking back at how they've already failed to live up to new year's resolutions. That can be quite discouraging. Sometimes we are disappointed with other people, but when we are disappointed with ourselves, that can be very painful indeed. Our subject today is "Dealing with Disappointments." One of the biggest jobs we all have during this new year is that of trying to decide what is important and what is not so important. We are all guilty at times of putting major emphasis on minor matters. But how do we sort out and decide between the things that are urgent and things that are essential? God has help for us with anything in our lives which needs fine-tuning. Today we will look at the life of Jesus, and we'll see how He dealt with this important matter.
