Good morning. North Dakota. I'm Aaron Jolly. That gray ceiling overhead? It's hiding a dramatic temperature split. We're sitting at 33 degrees under overcast skies right now, but where you live determines just how warm you'll get. In the next 24 hours., A frontal boundary stretches across the state, creating a nearly 20-degree gap. Down in Eastern North Dakota, widespread fog lingers until about 11 A.M. Once that lifts, partly sunny skies take over and temperatures climb to 54 degrees. That's roughly 15 degrees above normal for early March. Tonight, patchy fog returns with a low around 29. Central North Dakota has the best seat in the house. Mostly sunny skies, a high near 55 degrees. And light westerly winds. A gorgeous preview of spring. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with a low around 25. Head north though. And winter keeps its grip. Northern North Dakota stays socked in with patchy fog and clouds. Highs only reach 37 degrees — nearly 20 degrees cooler than the south. Tonight, clouds hang tough and temperatures plummet to 15 degrees. The contrast is sharp enough that you could drive from the Canadian border to the South Dakota line and feel like you've crossed two seasons. Looking ahead. Thursday brings another mild day with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. But a system arrives Thursday night into Friday with a chance of snow and possibly some freezing rain. Highs Friday struggle to reach the mid-30s. The weekend rebounds nicely — Saturday and Sunday both top out in the 50s, with Sunday pushing 60 degrees in central areas. Early next week, another cooldown arrives with chances for rain and snow. Tonight's full moon rises at sunset. With clearing skies in the south, it should be a beautiful sight. We're gaining over three minutes of daylight each day now — spring equinox is just two weeks away. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
