Oh Dolly, we were so sorry to hear you were gone. But the aftermath told us so much about you, and reminded us of the music, the humour, the deeds, the legacy, the legend that was Dolly Parton.

Cec and Row chat about the joys of new kittens and doing breakfast radio shifts (hello 4am alarms!). Then we chat about The Odyssey, CGI vs puppetry, Meg Bignall's fun book The Good Losers, then we enter the Moan Zone and rip smart TV's a new one.

This week Cec and Row are adoring Japanese CityPop, the gorgeous movie (and book!) Remarkably Bright Creatures, watching The Capture on iView and get cranky in the Moan Zone about big box booze shops over-doing the customer services. It's not helpful!

What happens when you're budget conscious AND nostalgic? You get 80's paperbacks from the op shop for 50c! Very Large Sharks, Depop, Masters of the Universe and The Pitt all get a run when Cec and Row look at what's been soaking in their brain pans. Meanwhile, listener Thi-anh takes us into the Moan Zone for a run on the Bali Bogan Bus aka *that* Jetstar run. Have we all forgotten how to travel with decorum? Apparently.

Row and Cec have a big hiss about all of the great shows being cancelled by streamers (Netflix and The Boroughs, we're looking at you), we look at kinks about British commemorative tea towels, and ask if Rom Coms are bearable right now, while the world burns? Meanwhile we dip into cosy Japanese reading with The Book You Are Looking For Is In The Library and in the Moan Zone, Row is very amused by a radio station and its competition to find Ballarat's worst pothole.

This episode disappeared down the back of the couch but we found it and proudly bring it to you! We discuss Row's appearance on TV, get some cozy crime recommendations for your viewing pleasure and discuss going to book launches and supporting your clever friends. In the Moan zone we decide on the right etiquette for dog owners when disposing of poops, and how far we have come since the 80s version of dog ownership!

Row and Cec forgot they were making a podcast and started singing instead. That horror over, they covered the joy of surprises in the mail, Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth, Project Hail Mary, the book Breath by James Nestor, then they entered the Moan Zone, where Row revealed that, on the road, she is part of the problem.

Welcome to the NOSTALGIA episode. Starting with filter coffee and fish paste, Cec and Row moved swiftly into shame food, Flowers in the Attic, Jaws (the book, not the movie) and Jackie Collins, plus we look at repair cafes and the need to have a bit of love for analogue life, and into the pricing shitshow that is major airports. Enjoy!
