The theatre director Lester Loveless is preparing to meet Frank Williams, his beloved playwright and the author of the acclaimed and multi-award-winning British musical which Lester is about to put on stage in Paris. The excitement and the expectation build to a crescendo, as he and his young French producer, Augustin Leparfait, arrive for the lunch in London and meet the celebrated dramatist and music composer.
