  • The Room (2003) w/ laika berdey
    Feb 10 2026

    Oh, hi Mark!

Music for this episode is from Jules McCools!

Check out his work on his website, Instagram, Spotify, and Bandcamp.

Alex (aka laika berdey) returns to the show to discuss an all-time favourite movie of mine. It's Tommy Wiseau's so-bad-it's-good classic The Room! We try to solve some of the mysteries behind this oddity. How did Tommy get the money to make this? Why are the sex scenes so long? Why Lisa, why?!!?

A syncable audio commentary we also recorded will be available next week as a bonus episode.

You can find laika berdey's musical work at:

  • Varsity Blues (1999) w/ Jake
    Feb 3 2026

    "I don't want your life"

It's Super Bowl week! The dastardly New England Patriots are playing so we are going back to a period of time where the Pats had zero Super Bowl wins. Jake is back on the show and we are talking the MTV produced teen drama 90s classic Varsity Blues!

This cliched mess inspired a ton of other high school sports movies and shows.

Varsity Blues stars James Van Der Beek, Jon Voight, Scott Caan, Amy Smart, Ali Larter, Paul Walker and Ron Lester.

  • RERELEASE: The Thing (1982) w/ Johnny Amizich from Culture Dumpster
    Jan 27 2026

It's cold as hell and man is the warmest place to hide. There is no new episode this week as I am working on some backend stuff for the show so from the archives is episode 2 of the old loose format.

Excuse the lesser mic quality and my rookie energy. Enjoy Johnny and I's great discussion of truly one of the all-time great horror films.

    Johnny also hosts Culture Dumpster.

  • Barry Lyndon (1975) w/ Daberhasher
    Jan 20 2026

Critics said it was as exciting as a coffee table book. But perhaps they were wrong in thinking that Stanley Kubrick's hilarious epic was merely just visually spectacular.

I'm joined by Daberhasher to discuss Barry Lyndon this week!

  • Digimon: The Movie (2000) w/ Mike
    Jan 6 2026

    Happy new year, digifriends!

On this very special episode of MoviePod, we go back to an anime film that was ridiculed for being incomprehensible. It is! It's three stitched together short films with a bonus Angela Anaconda opening (that may have caused someone's divorce) with a glorious ska soundtrack on top.

Digimon: The Movie's unique status as an anime film that is very Americanized from a wild west era of dubbing and adapting works to western audiences make it a real anomaly of a movie.

I'm joined by my friend Mike who is a digiexpert of the digital monsters to help me make digisense of what the digihell is going on.

  • It's A Wonderful Life (1946) w/ Johnny Amizich from Culture Dumpster
    Dec 30 2025

It started off as a box-office disappointment that was investigated by the FBI for communist sympathies. It wasn't until it became part of the public domain in the 1970s that people started watching It's A Wonderful Life as a Christmas staple. It has since been reclaimed as one of the greatest films of all time.

I am joined again by Johnny Amizich to discuss one of my favourite movies for to wrap up 2026 on MoviePod.

  • The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) w/ Andrea Wishart
    Dec 23 2025

Some initial reviews thought "bah humbug! this isn't as good as other Christmas Carol telling's"

Time has vindicated fans of this and the Muppets for being both one of the best Muppet movies, the best Charles Dickens film and a true holiday staple.

I have watched this film every Christmas Eve with my family so it was fitting to get my sister Andrea Wishart onto the show to yap about one of our all-time favourite movies! You can follow Andrea on Bluesky
