  • 367. How To Stop Dreading Things & Start Making The Most Of Life
    Oct 27 2026
Hi Mamas, Have you ever had something on your calendar that you were absolutely dreading? A work trip, a family obligation, a meeting, or an event you committed to but really don't want to attend? As busy working moms, we already have so much on our plates. And sometimes, the anticipation of something we don't want to do creates even more stress than the experience itself! In today’s episode, I'm sharing a personal story about a recent work trip to Chicago that I was NOT looking forward to. Between leaving my family, missing my daughter's volleyball playoffs, rearranging appointments, falling behind at work, and dealing with my anxiety around flying, I had plenty of reasons to dread this trip. But then my 13-year-old son turned my own parenting advice right back on me—and completely changed my perspective! It was a reminder that while we can't always control what we have to do, we can often control how we approach it. And sometimes, the experiences we dread the most turn out to be the ones that surprise us. In This Episode, We're Talking About: Why the anticipation of something stressful can be worse than the actual experienceHow to change your mindset when you have to do something you don't want to doThree simple mindset shifts to help you make the best of any situationHow to help your kids approach unwanted obligations with a more positive attitudeWhy being present matters, even in moments we didn't necessarily chooseHow to stop wishing away your life and start finding joy in everyday experiences 3 Mindset Shifts to Try This Week Acknowledge your feelings without letting them determine your attitude. You don't have to pretend you're excited about something you're dreading. Your feelings are valid, but they don't have to dictate your entire experience. Find one thing to look forward to. Instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong, ask yourself what might actually be good about the experience. A new connection? A fun conversation? An unexpected opportunity? Be where your feet are. Once you're there, give yourself permission to be fully present. Stop counting down the minutes and give the experience a chance. And if it's not fun, bring the fun! The next time you catch yourself dreading something you have to do, ask yourself: "If I'm going to spend my time doing this anyway, how can I make the most of it?" Because mama, your time is precious, and you deserve to enjoy as much of your life as possible—even the parts you didn't necessarily plan. 👉 And I'd love to hear what you're working on this week. • 366. Working Mom Mindset: You Can't Always Change Your Circumstances, But You Can Change Your Mindset
    Oct 26 2026
Hi Mamas, Have you ever spent DAYS dreading something that ended up being perfectly fine—or maybe even fun? A work meeting, a family obligation, a school event, or something on your already packed calendar that you just really don't want to do? As busy working moms, we have enough competing for our time and energy. But sometimes, we make things even harder by spending days worrying about something that hasn't even happened yet! In today’s episode, we're talking about how to change your mindset when you're dreading something, why our expectations can influence our experiences, and how to stop wishing away our lives while waiting for things to get easier. This week's quote, commonly attributed to Maya Angelou, is: "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." Because sometimes we have the ability to change our circumstances, set a boundary, or say no. But other times, we have to follow through on things we don't necessarily want to do. And that's where a little mindset shift can make a big difference! In This Episode, We're Talking About: Why we spend so much time dreading things before they even happenHow negative expectations can add unnecessary stress to our already busy livesThe difference between setting healthy boundaries and changing your attitudeHow to approach unavoidable obligations with a more positive mindsetWhy constantly waiting for Friday or the next vacation can keep us from enjoying the life we're livingHow to be more present and intentional, even when things don't go according to plan This Week's Monday Mindset Challenge The next time you catch yourself dreading something, I want you to ask yourself three questions: Is this something I actually have to do? If not, maybe it's an opportunity to set a boundary or make a different choice. If I do have to do it, what's ONE thing I can look forward to? Instead of focusing on all the reasons you don't want to do something, look for one thing that might be good about the experience. How can I show up with an open mind? When you get there, give yourself permission to be fully present instead of counting down the minutes until it's over. You might just surprise yourself! 👉 And I'd love to hear what you're working on this week. • 365. How To Be Happier Every Day: 3 Simple Gratitude Habits That Actually Work
    Oct 20 2026
Hi Mamas, What if you could feel happier, less stressed, and more fulfilled without changing your circumstances, spending money, or adding another thing to your already overflowing to-do list? As busy working moms, we're constantly looking ahead to the next thing. When work slows down, when the kids get older, when we lose the weight, when the house is finally organized... THEN we'll be happy. But what if happiness isn't something we have to keep chasing? What if we could experience more happiness right now simply by appreciating the little moments of joy already happening around us? In today's episode, we're talking about the power of practicing gratitude and how developing a gratitude mindset can help you find more happiness, appreciate everyday moments, and live a more intentional, fulfilling life. I'm sharing how gratitude has become part of my daily prayer and meditation routine, a beautiful moment with my daughter that reminded me what really matters, and the story of a woman I've never met who completely changed how I think about finding joy. We're also talking about why our brains tend to focus on negative experiences, how gratitude can help us shift our perspective, and why being thankful for your life doesn't mean you have to stop wanting more. In This Episode, You'll Learn: How practicing gratitude can help you feel happier: Why noticing the good in your everyday life can change your perspective. Why we focus on the negative: Understanding negativity bias and how it influences what we remember about our day.How to find joy in ordinary moments: Learning to appreciate the little blessings we often overlook.Three simple daily gratitude habits: Easy ways to practice gratitude in the morning, throughout the day, and before bed.How to practice gratitude during difficult seasons: Finding meaning, strength, and appreciation without pretending everything is perfect. Why gratitude and ambition can coexist: How to appreciate the life you have while continuing to pursue your dreams and create a life you love. 3 Simple Gratitude Habits to Start Today Start your morning with gratitude. Before reaching for your phone or thinking about your to-do list, spend a minute appreciating your blessings. Instead of simply listing what you're thankful for, picture the moments and people who bring you joy. Start counting your daily joys. Throughout the day, notice the little things that make you smile. A beautiful sunrise, an unexpected call from your child, a kind gesture, or even that first sip of coffee. Acknowledge those moments instead of rushing past them. End your day remembering what went right. Before bed, think about three specific things that made your day better. Instead of replaying everything that went wrong or everything you didn't accomplish, give yourself the opportunity to appreciate what went right. Your Working Mom Reminder You can be grateful for the life you have and still want more. You can appreciate your career and still want to pursue something more fulfilling. You can love being a mom and still want time for yourself. You can be thankful for your blessings while continuing to dream, grow, and work toward your goals. Gratitude isn't about settling. It's about learning to appreciate where you are while working toward where you want to be. And sometimes the most meaningful moments in life are the ones we almost miss.
