Good evening. Missouri. I'm Aaron Jolly. That damp chill in the air isn't just your imagination. We've already picked up nearly two-tenths of an inch of rain. And more is on the way. You're looking at 52 degrees under heavy gray skies right now, but the real story is down south. In the next 24 hours. We've got a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for the Ozarks until 9 P.M. Tonight. That covers Branson. West Plains. And points south and east. If you're down in Southwest Missouri, keep one eye on the sky. Showers and thunderstorms rumble on through the overnight hours. Rain chances peak around 11 P.M. With locally heavy downpours — you could see up to half an inch in spots. You'll bottom out around 50 degrees with some patchy fog rolling in late. Eastern Missouri, you're in for a long night. Storms linger even longer here, with precipitation continuing straight through from 8 P.M. Until the early morning. The heaviest action hits around 2 A.M. Lows dip to near 55 degrees. And yes, that fog will be thick after midnight. Out west, things settle down a bit sooner. Just a slight chance of storms between 8 and 11 P.M., then patchy fog takes over as the rain fades. You'll be cooler, too, dropping to around 45 degrees. Thursday brings a serious break. Morning fog burns off by mid-morning, then partly sunny skies take over. And it gets warm — highs climb to 66 out west, 68 in the east. And a balmy 70 down in the southwest. That's running 38 degrees to 38 degrees above normal for early March, folks. But Friday brings our next round of strong to severe storms. Highs surge into the upper 70s ahead of a cold front. And Eastern Missouri might even flirt with 80. Storms arrive Friday evening with all hazards possible — large hail, damaging winds. And even tornadoes. The weekend calms down with sunshine and highs in the 60s, before another system pushes in Tuesday. Charge those phones tonight and keep the weather radio handy. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
