We discuss how, as worship leaders at our own church, we’ve begun to notice how often the songs establish a sentiment of embattlement and persecution - to listeners primed to associate that persecution with living a Jesus-based life - which is then followed by sermons that reinforce those sentiments, sending people out into the world believing that their surrounded by enemies.
