In Episode 1, Mikey is spending a lazy summer day trying to find something to do. His friends are all unavailable, his dad has kicked him out of the house for the day, and he finds himself cruising aimlessly until he stops at their usual hangout - a vacant lot in the middle of the block. There, he's playing around the garden arbor that is all that's left of whatever used to be on the lot in the past. That's when something completely unexpected happens that changes everything.
