Listen, Honey! Y’all know one of my favorite things this past year was going to hear my buddies The Creekers play live! If you don’t know, The Creekers are a country and bluegrass band from just over the hill in Leslie County, Kentucky. They blew up this summer on TikTok when their song “Tennessee” took off as a viral sound clip. And it led them all the way to a big-time record deal with Warner Records. I met Tanner Horton, Allen Hacker, Ashton and Jagger Bowling, Scott Sutton and the fabulous Anna Blanton first at Manchester Music Hall in Lexington, but then followed them around to a half dozen or so shows. Hell, they even came and played for my Daddy at his house. Needless to say, they’re the biggest thing to come out of Eastern Kentucky since coal, and I’m here for it. I talked Tanner Horton, one of the band’s founders, songwriters, singers and guitar pickers, to join me for an episode of the podcast the day he and the band were playing two shows at The Burl, a legendary live music joint in Lexington, Kentucky, back in late December. And listen honey! We talked about everything! The band, the record deal, our favorite Appalachian artists, guitars, mules, dogs, Lynyrd Skynyrd, building fences, planting taters, our mutual fear of flying, soup beans versus chicken dumplings. Y’all are going to come out on the other side of this episode in overalls and needin’ a bath. The Creekers may have blown up in 2025, but you just wait for 2026. That first big record with Warner Records is due to come out and Tanner told me they won’t be doing many shows in Kentucky because they’re basically going to be touring everywhere else. I can’t wait to see how big they get and how much they accomplish. I’m so proud of my hillbilly besties. Give this a listen. Y’all will love it as much as I love y’all! Listen, Honey!
