  • How to Develop a Healthy Relationship with My Pastor - Part 1
    Oct 20 2026

What does it truly mean to honor the spiritual leaders in our lives without crossing the line into unhealthy dependence or outright idolization? This session digs into that tension with refreshing honesty, drawing from scriptures like 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13, which calls us to deeply respect those who labor among us and guide us in the Lord, and Hebrews 13:17, which reminds us that our leaders keep watch over our souls and will one day give an account. These are not casual responsibilities, and neither is our response to them. We are challenged to recognize that our pastor is both a person and a representative of God, and that distinction changes everything about how we relate to them. When we collapse those two realities into one, we end up either burdening our leaders with unrealistic expectations or treating them as though they are beyond correction. The spiritual insight here is that honoring leadership well actually requires us to understand what leadership is truly for, and that understanding sets us free to receive its full benefit.

  • Do I Love God Enough to be a Cheerful Giver - Part 2
    Oct 13 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

What if everything we thought we knew about Malachi chapter 3 was missing the bigger picture? Most of us have heard the familiar call to bring our tithes and unlock a blessing, but when we read Malachi from the very beginning, something remarkable emerges. The book opens not with a challenge to the people in the pews, but with a fierce indictment of the priests, the spiritual leaders entrusted with upholding God's standard. In Malachi 1, God confronts a priesthood that was accepting polluted, blemished offerings because their own hunger mattered more to them than His holiness. By chapter 2, He invokes the memory of Levi, a priest defined by integrity and uprightness, to show how far the leadership had strayed. These are not minor complaints. God declares in Malachi 1 that He would rather the temple doors be shut entirely than continue receiving dishonored worship. He even states that anything the corrupt priests bless, He has already cursed. This forces us to ask a hard question about the systems we participate in today. Are we worshiping in spaces where God has already moved on? The spiritual lesson here is profound and unsettling in the best possible way. God is not a passive recipient of whatever we bring Him. He is a Father who expects honor, a Master who expects respect, and a covenant partner who will not pretend that broken offerings are acceptable simply because they were given.

  • Do I Love God Enough To Be a Cheerful Giver - Part 1

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

What if everything we thought we knew about tithing was built on a foundation we never fully examined? This session takes us deep into the biblical roots of giving, and what we find there is both surprising and liberating. The conversation centers on Malachi 3:8, where God speaks to Israel about robbing Him in tithes and offerings. But to truly understand that charge, we have to go back further, into the law of Moses and the agricultural world in which that law was given. The giving system God established was not a simple ten-percent rule. It was a carefully structured 50-year cycle, built around two distinct tithes, gleaning for the vulnerable, and a sabbatical year of rest. When we see the full picture, we begin to realize that the system we have inherited in many of our churches today does not actually reflect what scripture describes. There were no bills, no grocery stores, no mortgages, and no taxes in the world where these instructions were given. That context matters enormously. Rather than leaving us with nothing to stand on, this foundation invites us into a deeper and more honest conversation about what God truly desires from us as givers. The goal is not to dismantle generosity but to rebuild it on truth, so that what we give flows from love and understanding rather than obligation or fear.
