À propos de ce contenu audio

L.I.F.E. (which stands for Listening and Inspiring Friends in Entertainment) used to be a live monthly event held at Icon Studios in Atlanta,Georgia. Founded by Stone Stafford, L.I.F.E. was to be a place where people in entertainment could come together and learn valuable life lessons while also being able to share challenges and difficulties in their careers and personal lives. Then COVID happened. At the persistent urging of his co-host, Jony Van, Stone made the pivot to taking L.I.F.E. to the podcasting platform. So welcome, to L.I.F.E. on podcast. We're glad you're here.© 2026 L.I.F.E. on podcast Musique Sciences sociales

In this episode, we’re unpacking a real and uncomfortable truth: sometimes success can change friendships. Sometimes for better, sometimes for worse.

When one person starts leveling up, the shift can reveal insecurities, ignite jealousy, create distance, or simply reveal that certain relationships weren’t built, or even meant, to grow with you. Sometimes it’s necessary. Sometimes it’s painful. Sometimes it’s just part of the process of entering a new season.

This year, Billboard named Lil Baby’s "My Turn" the No. 1 R&B/Hip-Hop Album of the 21st Century. How? Why?

When we have game-changing and record-setting classics from Kanye, Kendrick, Drake, Beyoncé, OutKast, The Weeknd and Jay-Z and other genre defing masterpieces, how in the world does "My Turn" sit on the throne?

This isn’t about if Billboard's decision is right or wrong, but rather, how did we get here?

If "My Turn" really beat out every R&B and hip-hop album since 2000, then
either Billboard is onto something, or the way we crown greatness in this era has completely changed.

  • 230. The Hidden Cost of Attention
    Nov 4 2025

It feels like for a while there, everywhere you turned there was a Sabrina Carpenter promo playing; on social media, streaming platforms, and even in movie theaters. For someone like her, it makes sense; she’s got a project to promote. But what about the people who keep posting nonstop with no project, no purpose, and nothing of real value to offer? Just an endless loop of meditation selfies (really??), trends, and thirst traps - all chasing a hit of validation.

In this episode, we dig into the hidden cost of attention and how social media turned self-expression into a currency, and why some people are going broke trying to buy relevance. From the dopamine economy to digital burnout, we’ll explore what’s really being traded every time someone posts “just to be seen.”

Because at the end of the day, the question isn’t “How many people are watching?”
It’s “What are you losing just to keep their eyes on you?”
