    • Knowing … Psychosexual therapy
      Nov 12 2025

On this episode of Knowing Me, Knowing You, Trent is joined by neurodivergent psychosexual therapist and relationship counsellor, Maxi Xie, to get a better understanding of what psychosexual therapy is.

Maxi’s lived experience as a culturally diverse practitioner shapes his work supporting individuals and couples around intimacy, pleasure, and communication, who he sees across several private clinics. Maxi’s practice is sex-positive, poly-friendly, kink and fetish friendly, neuro-affirming, and culturally aware, and he provides safe, inclusive spaces where people can embrace all parts of themselves — including their identities, desires, and vulnerabilities — free from shame. Together, Trent and Maxi discuss:

      • What sparked Maxi’s interest for working in psychosexual therapy, including his studies,
      • What psychosexual therapy is and why someone might seek out this type of support,
      • The role of desire, shame and our emotions related to our sexual selves,
      • The difference between intimacy and sexual intimacy, as well as
      • Why is it important to discuss our desires and boundaries with our partner.
