      In Matthew chapter ten, Jesus calls his twelve disciples and gives them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and affliction. He instructs them to go only to the lost sheep of Israel and proclaim the kingdom of heaven. Jesus emphasizes that the kingdom is not some distant concept, but rather a present reality that they should proclaim and demonstrate through healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing lepers, and casting out demons. This passage introduces the theme of the Gospel of the kingdom and highlights the importance of proclaiming and living in the reality of the kingdom.
