 Set in colonial Uttar Pradesh of the 1930’s, Premchand’s literary classic Karmabhumi unfolds in the midst of political revolutions and reforms, as a young and heavily principled Amarkant struggles to define his place and purpose in his tumultuous world. Raised by a dogmatic father, Amarkant struggles to assert his passion for studies and is pressured to focus on the family business instead.
