  • THE Boldest Marketing Idea: Build Your Own Social Media Platform
    Oct 6 2022
Are you in for a bold idea for your marketing? Cool! Here it is: If social media isn't cutting it for you, why don't you build your own socials platform?

Yup! Before you say it's le impossible! It is. From a tech point of view, it's totally possible - and at an accessible cost. But more so: why? People like the functionality of social media, they don't like the present execution. This is a great idea if you want to create more than just community around your product, your brand, yourself, or your service. It's to give your people a totally new way to connect that goes way, way beyond a community platform.

Also: How baller of a move is this? If you don't like what Instagram or Facebook are doing, just build your own themed social network around your brand. Imagine how awesome it is for people in your community to connect this way around a shared interest. It goes way deeper than a community software or subreddit ever could. It harnesses the good part of socials: Getting to show off your own personality, being seen by other people.

And you can keep the trolls out and monetize it gently (if you want to) with a small monthly contribution. Or not. Honestly, I'm waiting to see the first influencer or pop culture figure to do this. Imagine Swiftnet for Swifties. But it also works for smaller brands and followings.

Now, here's a caveat: This is best for somebody who has a sizable(ish) following they want to move onto their own social media platform. You need a critical mass of people who's active enough so that the network is actually interesting.

    I also talk about:

    • community software vs. your own social media network
    • how the internet is becoming more private
    • my prediction for the future of marketing and the internet
    • how to tell if a project is for you

  • No More Recipes for Life: They Don't Work, Anyways!
    Sep 30 2022
Ah, the wonderful world of personal development online: Do this! Not that! Use this method, not that one! There are so many recipes - but which ones work? And for you?

In this episode, I share why recipes aren't the way to go and what signals to look for to find good people for personal development work. One approach is like teaching people how to make pasta, the other one shows them how to cook. For long-term impact and to grow as a person in a sustainable way, the way that is like learning how to cook is infinitely better. And after this episode you'll know much better how to find which is which and who to choose in which moment of your journey.

I also share how you can navigate the often confusing, sometimes messy world of advice-giving online. There's a lot of content out there right now that tells you how to live life. You don't need to follow each and every one of it. Listen to learn how to find what fits and what to let go.

  • Your Content is Like A Gift: A Better Way to Do Content Marketing
    Sep 28 2022
How do you create content in your business? Is it a chore? Sort of okay? You like doing it but often are lacking inspiration?

In this episode, I share a reframe for your content marketing: Instead of seeing it as a necessary evil in getting word out there about your business, what if you saw it as a gift?

Because it is: Content marketing is a strategic element of bringing people to your business. But it's so much more than that. Your content is a point of connection with your audience. It's also often the first thing they see from you. So better make it good.

Listen to learn more how reframing your content as a gift can making content more fun for you and way more impactful for your community.

  • 3 Things I Learned in Coaching Training that Will Make You a Better Listener
    Sep 23 2022

Hand on your heart: How good are you at listening? REALLY listening?

I always thought I was a decent listener until I trained as a coach. Only then did I understand that I had a lot to learn in that department - and still do. Listening is a disappearing art - especially in a time where we seem to love to shout at each other online.

Truly listening is a beautiful gift you can give to the person who's sharing something with you. Think about it: When is the last time you felt that somebody truly listened to you? When did you make space for somebody else to share what's on their mind?

It's trickier than it seems. Especially, when what they're sharing might feel uncomfortable to us. It's easier to jump in and try and fix things than letting somebody else share what's on their mind and hear it without immediately interrupting them with a fix. But that's exactly where the magic happens. When you give somebody space to open up authentically and feel safe to be vulnerable with you. Becoming a better listener will enrich your relationships so, so much. And it will make you feel more secure in those situations where somebody is sharing stuff that's uncomfy.

Listen in to learn 3 easy things you can do to become a better listener in this episode. I'm spilling my secrets from training as a coach, so it's a good one!

  • The No. 1 Barrier to Marketing Yourself Without Social Media
    Sep 21 2022

So, you hate marketing yourself on social media! This episode is for you.

We need to talk about this. Despite my gentle nature, I won't sugarcoat things for you in this episode. What we need to talk about is adult human beings who are capable of running businesses who keep telling themselves the same sucky story over and over again. Socials suck. Posting drains me. I don't want to do this but I have to.

You don't have to be on socials if you don't want to. You don't have to create a course if you don't want to. You don't have to do anything in any set way, if it doesn't resonate. You're an adult human being who's running a business. You get to decide how you do things. Not some online guru, not your well-meaning friends who told you "just make a facebook page and they will come", not your neighbor. Whoever it is, it doesn't mean you have to do it.

After all, how is your special magic sauce supposed to shine through, when you despise how you talk about what you do? It makes no sense to expect great outcomes and hate the way you're getting there.

This episode will help you break through the mental barrier of "but how" or "what if I stuff up my business when I leave socials?". Because the no. 1 thing that's in your way to leave the misery of socials isn't which platform you'll go on instead. It's your mind.

So let's address that. Listen for inspiration!
