  • EP-19 Travel Safety with Global Secure Resources
    Mar 3 2026

Ingrid Centurion recently interviewed Carrie Pasquarello, founder of Global Secure Resources, a threat-mitigation company dedicated to keeping travelers safe abroad.

During their conversation, Pasquarello addressed the growing complexity of global criminal activity and how it impacts international travelers—from opportunistic street crime and organized theft rings to cyber exploitation and politically driven unrest. She emphasized that modern travel risk is no longer limited to high-risk regions; even traditionally “safe” destinations are experiencing spikes in crime targeting tourists.

    Key insights she shared include:

    • Pre-travel intelligence is critical. Travelers should understand local crime trends, cultural norms, transportation risks, and safe zones before arrival.

    • Situational awareness is your first line of defense. Criminals often target distracted individuals—those visibly unfamiliar with their surroundings.

    • Digital security matters. Public Wi-Fi exploitation, SIM-swap fraud, and device theft can escalate quickly into financial or identity crimes.

    • Layered protection strategies work best. This may include vetted drivers, secure lodging selection, itinerary tracking, emergency response planning, and real-time monitoring.

    • Corporate responsibility is increasing. Organizations have a duty of care to protect employees traveling internationally, especially in volatile regions.

Pasquarello underscored that preparation—not fear—is the goal. By combining intelligence, planning, and professional support, individuals and companies can significantly reduce exposure to risk while maintaining confidence in global travel.

He is the Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitor in South Carolina, he serves as the elected chief prosecutor for the 8th Circuit, which includes Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, and Newberry counties. He’s a Republican and has served as solicitor since 2013, winning re-election multiple times — making him one of the longest-serving prosecutors in the Upstate. A longtime prosecutor: before becoming solicitor, Stumbo worked in the Attorney General’s Office as an assistant (including in the State Grand Jury unit, which tackles complex crimes such as narcotics conspiracies, gangs, public corruption, human trafficking, computer crimes, and more). As solicitor, he has personally tried numerous major felony cases (including murders, violent crimes, and drug trafficking) and overseen a dramatic increase in conviction rates across his circuit. His legal career includes: Child Safety & Abuse: Stumbo has prioritized prosecuting child predators and organized panels (e.g., on Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect for mandatory reporters). Human Trafficking: under his leadership, his office partners with law enforcement and community groups to combat trafficking and related crimes. Domestic Violence: he heads the 8th Circuit Domestic Violence Task Force, bringing community members and law enforcement together to address domestic abuse issues.

Public Safety: his prosecutorial priorities include fighting violent crime, drug trafficking, and other serious offenses with strong courtroom strategies. Stumbo officially launched his campaign for South Carolina Attorney General in 2025, emphasizing his record as a conservative, law-and-order prosecutor. He frames his AG campaign around issues such as crushing violent crime and drug trafficking (including fentanyl), dismantling human trafficking networks, combatting corruption, defending the Constitution, and supporting law enforcement. From his career and campaign statements, Stumbo’s background reflects: Deep courtroom experience and a focus on prosecution over plea deals in serious cases.
