TABAH joins us this week, the Minneapolis band that played the same show as D back in 2017 and has a new album on the way. They tell us how people who speak Hindi, Urdu and Malay let them know their name means to overcome and to persevere, and the story behind the 1950s Chicago photo on the cover of their debut album "Symmetry Somewhere." They also talk about spending 1,200 days on their 2024 EP "Inner Net" while teaching themselves to record at home, and going back to Pachyderm to track the new record with live drums. Stick around for a clip of their new song "Call Me" at the end, and catch the full live performance on our YouTube channel.

Alysha Brilla joins us this week, the Juno-nominated Indo-Tanzanian Canadian singer-songwriter and producer who stopped by Trilix Studio while touring through Iowa. She talks about the Tanzanian, Indian and Celtic roots behind her music, and how she wrote "Peace" as a prayer during a lonely, grief-filled time. She also looks back on going up against Celine Dion for a Juno, scoring the film "The Queen of My Dreams," and how being discovered on Myspace led to writing with No Doubt and Black Eyed Peas, then getting shelved by a major label. Stick around for a clip of "Peace" at the end, and catch the full live performance on our YouTube channel next week.

The Host Country joins us this week, the Des Moines indie rock band featuring our own host D on keys and vocals, and no, they’re not a country band. After more than 15 years together, the band sat down at Trilix Studio ahead of the release of their new album “Liminal Ways,” with bass player Tom asking some of the questions. They look back on how Ty and D met through the theater department in college, how World Cup broadcasts gave them their name, and how each new member shaped their sound. They also dig into “Liminal Ways,” an album about being in midlife and in between a lot of things. Stick around for a clip of their new song “Leave A Mark” at the end, and catch the full live performance on our YouTube channel next week.
