  • Inside the Mary Earps 3G Pitch Opening: Funding, Facilities and the Future of the Game
    Mar 16 2026

Today on In The Box, we’re at the opening of the brand new Mary Earps 3G pitch in Nottingham, the new home turf for Calverton Miners Welfare FC, Arnold Eagles Girls and Ladies FC, and a wealth of local teams. We caught up with the Lionesses legend herself, Mary Earps MBE, for her thoughts on how the football landscape is changing for the better for women and girls, and how facilities play a vital role in continuing this momentum. Viv Corcoran of Calverton Miners Welfare FC and FA Club Consultant Bob Stretton also joined us in this episode to discuss how they secured funding for the new pitch through the Football Foundation, with a Director from the Football Foundation, John Paul Considine, adding his insight later in the episode. He takes us through the growth and country-wide demand they’re receiving for more resources, with equal access for women and girls a key focus of their efforts.
