  • The Future is Unwritten, Ep.6: Dr Gellar
    Jun 24 2026

Dr Simon Gellar is an academic, a lecturer of Criminology at Kent University and over the past few years has been on something of a journey.Simon learned of a plant native to the South Pacific island nations of Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa whose root is used to prepare a beverage enjoyed by the peoples of these lands for 3000 years. It's called Kava and its active compounds (kavalactones) produce a calming and social effect for those fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it.I was one such fortunate fellow, as Simon invited me to his home Kava Bar (called a Nakamal) to try it for myself.See how I experienced it and hear Simon's story, his deep research of this island paradise elixir, as well as the cause of the Kava Coalition which seeks to bring Kava to the world.

  • The Future is Unwritten, Ep.5: Richard
    Jun 17 2026

Richard is a Vienna-based veteran, financial services professional and father, now forging a path in medical technology after the passing of his father from an aggressive form of brain tumor.

Regular viewers will be somewhat familiar with Richard's story and his company, CureGBM. In this episode, I sit down with Rich in Vienna at the end of a long day with a couple of frothies to hear about his journey from Durham to Vienna, via the City of London and even a stint in Afghanistan.

This one's about how life events can change our direction of travel - for good and for bad - and how tragedy can give us purpose. Filmed in the Burggarten of Vienna, some drink was taken as the night wore on. There's some strong language but not a whole lot.
