And western areas are already getting hammered. In the next 24 hours. Western Montana takes the brunt this morning. Rain and snow mixing through 6 A.M., then easing off. You'll hit 46 degrees today before dropping back to 30 tonight with lingering showers. Friday brings relief — partly sunny and 45. Central Montana gets the same messy mix. Rain and snow all day with winds gusting to 18 miles an hour. High of 45, low of 28 tonight. Snow tapers Friday as you climb to 48. Eastern Montana stays a touch warmer. Rain holds off until after 9 A.M., then moves in for a high near 52. Tonight's the kicker — rain flips to snow as temperatures crash to 30. Friday hits 51 with just a slight chance of morning flurries. Mountain travelers, listen up. Winter Storm Warning for the Gallatin and Madison ranges until 3 P.M. Below 7000 feet? Four to nine inches. On the peaks? Up to 16 inches. Plan your routes accordingly. For the weekend. Temperatures surge into the upper 50s, even 60s by Sunday.
