Good morning. Nebraska. I'm Aaron Jolly. That gray ceiling overhead is doing exactly what it did all night. We're sitting at 41 degrees under overcast skies. And the overnight low barely budged from 40. The clouds acted like a blanket. And they're not done with us yet. In the next 24 hours. Dense fog is the main hazard this morning, especially across northeast Nebraska. Visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less through about 8 A.M. If you're commuting that direction, give yourself extra time and use those low beams. Here's where it gets interesting. Western Nebraska is seeing a completely different day. While the east stays socked in with clouds, the Panhandle clears out and warms up to 65 degrees this afternoon. Eastern and Southeast Nebraska both top out near 55 under stubborn clouds. A slight chance of rain enters the picture after 5 P.M. In the east. Tonight, the temperature split continues. Western Nebraska drops to 31 under clearing skies. Eastern areas hold warmer, around 37, but patchy fog could redevelop late. A chance of rain moves through between 10 P.M. and 1 A.M. Thursday brings a preview of spring. Highs surge to 67 in the east and 69 out west. Enjoy the warmth. Because changes arrive Thursday night. Rain and thunderstorms become likely. And some could be strong. Friday starts mild but turns blustery. Western Nebraska sees rain possibly mixing with snow as temperatures crash. By Friday night, lows dip into the 20s across much of the state. The weekend looks fantastic. Saturday brings sunshine and 54 to 56 degrees. Sunday warms to near 70. Monday could hit 76 degrees — more than 20 degrees above normal for early March. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now. The spring equinox is just two weeks away. Tonight's full moon will be lighting the way.
