🚨 WHAT ACTUALLY MAKES AN ATTACK POLITICAL VIOLENCE?
Is an assault automatically political violence simply because the victim is a politician?
Or must the attack itself be politically motivated?
Consider this hypothetical.
You know a politician personally. You have a dispute with them that has absolutely nothing to do with their political position, policies or affiliations.
One day, that dispute turns violent.
IS THAT POLITICAL VIOLENCE, OR AN ORDINARY ASSAULT INVOLVING A POLITICIAN?
In this clip from the Helen Haines episode of Honest & Open Conversations, I challenge the distinction between the identity of a victim and the motivation behind an attack.
The central question is simple: Does political violence require a political motive?
This is a hypothetical discussion about definitions, not a conclusion about the motive in the Helen Haines case.
