"How I Pop Culture" is the hub that is home to "Top Chef and I," a personal project analyzing contestants from the show Top Chef. Filled with intellect and joy, "Top Chef and I" aims to provide an overview of how people do on that show all while grasping the triumphs and tribulations they faced along the way.

As this is a personal project, episodes are not released on a certain schedule but rather when I have time to do them. • Top Chef and I: Stephen Asprinio (S1, San Francisco)
      Mar 28 2025

Stephen Asprinio was one heck of a polarizing figure in the middle of the millennium's first decade of reality TV stars. His constant need to teach with presumed superiority on season 1's Top Chef rubbed chefs, judges, and diners the wrong way. All done in a fashionable attire and a glass of wine, Stephen was hard to understand, but beneath all that fancy fluff did lie someone who genuinely just wanted to give back what he received, and in order to reveal that to y'all, I'm gonna have to give my own lesson on this lad and his love of appeasing the clientele.

"Top Chef and I" is a commentary analysis retrospective that takes a look at the performances of those that competed on the hit food competition program. • Top Chef and I: Miguel Morales (S1, San Francisco)
      Dec 16 2024

Miguel Morales was given the title "Chunk La Funk" when he competed on season 1, but he wasn't given the title of "Top Chef." He certainly could cook, but a fluster of events led him to defeat. Cooking can only get you so far...if you know what I mean. If you don't, then listen in to find out!

    • Top Chef and I: Andrea Beaman (S1, San Francisco)
      Nov 13 2024

Andrea Beaman's love of nuts, grains, and bowel movements shockingly got her to the halfway point of season 1...that is after she was brought back from the isle of elimination. Don't mistake her second run as pure luck though. She was just doing her thing when the show was trying to figure out theirs.
