The week we talk to Pro MMA Fighter Julia Ramsden (Mavericks Training Center). She shares her journey through the world of combat sports, discussing her experiences in jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, her role as a coach, and the dynamics of competition. The conversation flows from lighthearted anecdotes to deeper reflections on her training, injuries, and aspirations in the sport. Julia emphasizes the importance of personal growth, the challenges of teaching, and the thrill of competition, all while maintaining a humorous and relatable tone. We also delve into the misconceptions surrounding combat sports, and explain the importance of grit and skill.

On a more candid note- for anyone looking into a good way to "fight your demons" so to speak, sport is generally a great way to do it. Done properly, sport can bring you some of the most calm atmospheres (even if they appear chaotic), coupled with new found friendships. Most that listen to this podcast have some stuff they are working through or are trying to find the grit to get to the next challenge. Combat sports like we discuss this week will test that grit and will help you thirve in other ways outside of the gym.

For anyone interested in starting, or are seasoned and need a new gym, Mavericks Training Gym is located in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. Bonus, they also have excellent kids classes.

Happy Holidays everyone. Although we thought about taking this week off, we all know Christmas is an important time to remind those that feel alone, that they are not alone. Therefore, this week it felt extra important to release this episode about a non profit that steps up to help veterans. Bearded Warriors was built because there were cracks seen in resources offered and instead of getting upset over it, they decided to solve it. Because of this determination and grit, Bearded Warriors is quickly becoming a staple resource for veterans. Even outside of the veteran community, they have made real impacts by selling shirts where all proceeds go to a fallen officers family.

In this episode, Ty goes into how it started, what Bearded Warriors is, and how you can be a part of it. Here is there website where you can find links to several other platforms they are on. And if you are looking to donate this holiday season, please consider them.
