      2023 is set to be a big year for hydrogen and in this Green Buzz podcast, hosted by the Green Finance Community Hub, we discuss various hydrogen projects across the North of England and drill down to how hydrogen fits into Cumbria’s Clean Energy Strategy and the possibilities and actual plans for multi-coloured hydrogen (green, blue and pink) production there. We also consider the business case and the investment risks for green hydrogen and whether being a first mover in this space is an advantage - or as hard as hacking through a field of thorns.

      This podcast begins by discussing the different types of hydropower and considers the carbon and methane emissions of larger hydro power projects. We then discuss hydro's taxonomy and financing, grid capacity/ smart grids and think about what policy is needed to make it possible to sell hydro locally. We include various examples of community hydro projects in Wales, Cumbria and Reading and being inspired by the passion and innovation of members and volunteers.
