  • Episode 68: The Ohio Update #2
    Oct 5 2026

In Episode 68, Jake returns to The Ohio Update with a different question: Ohio is building consequential things, but what kind of people and institutions are actually capable of carrying what comes next? Using David McCullough’s The Pioneers as the lens, Jake looks at the habits and virtues that helped turn settlement into a functioning society: competence, duty, usefulness, judgment, education, sacrifice, and the willingness to carry responsibility when it is actually yours to carry.

From Rufus Putnam and Manasseh Cutler to modern Ohio’s housing, infrastructure, public defense, local journalism, aerospace, AI, and workforce challenges, this conversation is really about civic capacity. Capable people matter. Competent institutions matter. And neither citizens nor institutions get to demand their rights while abandoning their duties. The question underneath all of it is simple: what do we owe the Ohio that comes after us? Jake’s answer is everything within our capacity to leave it stronger, freer, more truthful, and more durable.

  • Episode 67: Taylor Fowler
    Sep 15 2026

Jake sits down with his wife, Taylor Fowler, for a real conversation about his online coaching business Fowler Fit, family, time, and what it looks like to build something together when life is already full. If you’re trying to grow a business, side hustle, or creative project without letting it take over your family, this one will hit close to home. What starts as a check-in about podcasting turns into a bigger conversation about focus, lead generation, content, yoga, parenting, and why the work you avoid is usually the work that moves things forward. At its core, this conversation is about shared vision, ownership, and creating something that actually lasts.

  • Episode 66: The Ohio Update Vol. 1
    Sep 1 2026

In Episode 66, Jake launches the first volume of The Ohio Update, a new Fowler and Friends series built around a question he keeps coming back to: Ohio is building consequential things, but are we doing it with truth, responsibility, and civic purpose in mind so that what we build will actually last? This episode features Jake trying to make sense of a bigger story unfolding across the state: Ohio is attempting to turn its industrial inheritance — manufacturing, aerospace, logistics, energy, skilled work, and physical production — into it's advantage in a new economy built around AI, defense, aviation, automation, and advanced manufacturing. The goal is not to pretend every major investment is automatically good, and it is not to be cynical just because growth comes with trade-offs. It is to ask better questions about what Ohio is becoming, what parts of our inheritance are worth carrying forward, and whether we are building a future that actually serves the people who have to live inside it. This episode is about stewardship, industry, public trust, family life, and trying to get a little less ignorant about the place we call home.

  • Episode 65: Jack Flores
    Aug 16 2026

In Episode 65, Jake sits down with Jack Flores, his first cousin once removed, for a conversation about college golf, faith, pressure, and what it takes to grow when the scorecard is not telling the whole story. Jack talks about the jump from Thomas Worthington High School to playing golf at Ohio University, the mental adjustment of going from being one of the best players around to competing in a much deeper field, and how working with a sports psychologist helped him handle bad rounds, tougher courses, and the pressure that comes with expectations. We get into the routines that keep him grounded, including his 15-minute rule after a bad day, the balance of Division I golf and finance classes, and the way family, leadership, and discipline are shaping who he is becoming. The conversation also moves beyond golf into Jack’s faith in Christ, the historicity of the Bible, and how biblical teaching applies to real life.

  • Episode 64: Local Motives
    Jul 19 2026

In Episode 64, Jake sits down with childhood friends Nate Murray and Cody Pfister, the lifelong friends behind Local Motives, a documentary born out of an ’80s van, a camera, and a wild idea to travel across all 50 states (they hit 46) listening to people experience climate change up close. What started with friendship, curiosity, and a love for the outdoors turned into a project about fishing, farming, invasive species, weather, industry, and the communities trying to adapt without losing who they are. Nate and Cody are not interested in preaching from a distance. They are interested in getting close enough to listen. This conversation is about storytelling, adventure, local responsibility, and the kind of hope that comes from meeting real people in real places, facing complicated problems with creativity, honesty, and a little bit of fun.
