Jocie McKade is the author of over twenty books. Her fiction writing has received several awards for mystery and romcom books. Her non-fiction work has appeared in dozens of magazines, online blogs, and she served as the Senior News Editor of Reader’s Entertainment News, a top blog for readers.

North of Broken & Furever Home was inspired by Holly's own rescue dogs. While the story is fictional, it's deeply rooted in the real experiences, personalities, and transformative power of the rescue dogs who've changed her life.

The story follows a rescue dog's journey from abandonment to finding purpose alongside a woman in her second act of life. It explores themes of second chances, healing, and the unbreakable bonds we form with animals.
