Finding Unity in Humanity, a four-part series presented by the Alpha Iota Chi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, explores the experience of LGBTQIA+ individuals in the Appalachian region by way of human expression via poetry, narrative, and visual art.  In this episode, we will interview Dr. Matthew Thomas Reid (he/him/his), Assistant Professor of Educational Foundations and affiliate faculty with Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies at Appalachian State University.  Dr. Thomas-Reid serves as faculty advisor for GAPP (Gay and Progressive Pedagogy) and is editor of the South Atlantic Philosophy of Education Society Journal.  His current research projects focus on utilizing LGBTQIA histories and narratives with a view toward "queering" pedagogy, praxis, and  most recently, digital literacies.
