Infertility is a very frightening journey. Whether you’re on your own or trying with a partner, the thought of having such an obstacle in your way of starting the family you have always wanted can be daunting. One of the best sources of support and  information can come from the fertility professionals you see several times a week. Today’s guest, Monika, is a fertility ultrasonographer, who has been involved in infertility patient care for over 30 years!! Over all those years she has compiled a list of infertility survival tips that she loves to share with patients. 

It’s often said these days that 40 is the new 30; and women are proving this true by doing all the things they did in their third decade, including getting pregnant. Planned pregnancies among 40-year-olds are more prevalent than ever and women are proud of this! Reasons they give for their choice are that they are  more mature, more patient, have more stable relationships and are better off financially. 

Studies suggest that children of older moms are more likely to be better behaved, well socialized, and emotionally healthy. However, conception at age 40 is much more difficult and miscarriages much more common. Today Lindsay is going to tell us what it is like going through fertility treatment in your 40s. 

Fertility is one medical field that has always focused on the experiences and needs of women. After all, women bear all the physical and emotional pain of treatments. Yet there is a growing awareness that men suffer from the emotional ups and downs of infertility treatments too. While men may be  shelling out thousands of dollars for fertility treatments and taking time off of work for appointments, it’s easy for men to be forgotten or minimized in the process.
