À propos de ce contenu audio
“Unlike what most people think, the tool we use the most is our mouths. So, just being able to talk to people would qualify you to be a good police officer. You’ve got to be able to talk to people.”
Chief William Penn, Jr. of the Winston-Salem Police Department, joins us to discuss his journey from growing up in East Winston to leading the city’s police force.
Chief Penn shares insights into his 27-year career, challenges and rewards of recruiting in today’s environment, the comprehensive training officers undergo, and the department’s focus on communication, officer wellness, and leveraging technology to combat crime.
We also discuss WSPD’s commitment to community engagement, including initiatives like the T-ball league at Rupert Bell Park and the Youth Citizens’ Police Academy.
